6 to-dosFrequently asked questions
What should I pack for a camping trip?
At minimum: shelter (tent, groundsheet, mallet and pegs), a sleep system (sleeping bag, mat or air bed, pillow), light (headlamp, torch, spare batteries), a way to cook (stove, fuel, matches, kettle, pan), water, warm layers and a first aid kit. The full list above covers each of these.
How much food should I bring camping?
Plan one extra day beyond the length of the trip. Pack food that keeps without a fridge, such as rice, beans, bread, nuts and trail mix, and use a cooler with ice for the first day or two of perishables.
What do people most often forget when camping?
The small things: matches or a lighter, a mallet for the tent pegs, a can opener, bin bags and a torch. In the app you can set a reminder on those so they pop up the night before.
Can I use this checklist in the app?
Yes. Every category on this page is a built-in template in The Packing List for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. Tap Open this list in the app to create it, then tick items off, set reminders and share it with a link.
