6 to-dosFrequently asked questions
What tools should I carry on a bike tour?
A multi-tool with Allen and Torx keys, a pump or CO2 inflator, two spare tubes, a patch kit, tyre levers, a chain tool and quick link, spare brake pads, a spare gear cable and a few zip ties. That covers nearly every roadside repair.
How many sets of cycling clothes do I need?
Two sets of bib shorts and jerseys is enough for any length of tour if you wash one each evening. Add one set of off-bike clothes, a rain jacket, warm gloves and arm or leg warmers for cold mornings.
What should I eat on a long ride?
Aim for 60 to 90 grams of carbohydrate per hour after the first hour: bars, bananas, dried fruit, sandwiches or gels. Drink to thirst, about a bottle per hour in mild weather and more in heat.
Can I share this list with my riding group?
Yes. Open the list in The Packing List app and share it with a link so the group can split who carries which tools and spares.
